As I head towards Chester Marathon I’m currently in week eight of the multiple marathon training plan that I’m following. I’ve been following these plans since Manchester Marathon in the build up to my Marathon leg in The Lakesman and now into Chester.
The plan is adapted slightly from an original plan by Pfitzinger and Douglas from their book Advanced Marathoning.
This week is as follows:
Monday – Rest Day
Tuesday – 9 Miles with 6 x 800m @5k Race Pace (50-90% effort jog in between)
Wed – 6 Miles recovery pace
Thurs – 13 Miles easy pace
Fri – 8 Miles with 10 x 100m strides
Saturday – 6 Miles recovery pace
Sunday – 18 Miles Long Run
A lot of speed work going on this week with sessions on Tuesday and Friday. Thursday and Sunday carries on the endurance phase. I’ve gotten a lot better at pacing my recovery runs to ensure I’m not pushing myself too hard in every run. This week totals 60 Miles.
